Interactions: | Carbamazepine
Adverse Effect: Decrease in the plasma concentration of Bupropion HCL due to the induction of its metabolism Clinical Management: Monitor for the therapeutic effect and adjust the dose if required.
Cimetidine
Adverse Effect: Concomitant administration results in increasing the plasma concentration of Bupropion HCL by inhibiting its metabolism Clinical Management: Monitor for the therapeutic effect and adjust the dose if required.
Levodopa
Adverse Effect: Concomitant administration results in higher incidence of adverse effects Clinical Management: Administer Bupropion HCL with caution to patients receiving Levodopa concurrently. Drug has to be administered in small doses and gradually increasing as initial large doses often precipitate a series of adverse reactions.
Lithium
Adverse Effect: Additive risk of seizures in case of abrupt Lithium withdrawal when the person is undergoing Bupropion HCL treatment Clinical Management: Withdrawal of Lithium and other drugs which lower seizure threshold should be done slowly if the person is under Bupropion HCL treatment.
Phenobarbitone
Adverse Effect: Decrease in the plasma concentration of Bupropion HCL due to the induction of its metabolism Clinical Management: Monitor for the therapeutic effect and adjust the dose if required.
Phenytoin
Adverse Effect: Decrease in the plasma concentration of Bupropion HCL due to the induction of its metabolism Clinical Management: Monitor for the therapeutic effect and adjust the dose if required.
